Thermographic Surveying
What Is Thermographic Surveying?
Theromgraphic Surveying is essentially digital photography with a
specialised camera (similar to those used by the emergency services),
which picks out “Hot Spots” and possible faults in an electrical
installation.
What Are The Advantages Of Thermographic Surveying?
The key advantage of this type of test is that there is no disruption to
you and the workplace.
No systems need be shut down, indeed to make the testing more effective
it is recommended that all systems are operational to simulate maximum
load to increase heat differentials. It can also be an excellent form of
preventive maintenance picking up faults before they become more
serious.
Can This Be Used Instead Of Period Inspections?
In some cases yes, although you will still need to have a full visual
inspection of your installation carried out. The advantages to this are
as listed above, it is advisable to check with your Insurers to see if
they would be happy with this type of test. This type of test comes into
its own when it is impossible to turn off the power supply for example
in a Hospital environment. |
